~ Gibbon's catchphrase |
Gibbons is a recurring side character in Tom Goes to the Mayor. He is Tom Peter's (questionable) friend and is the most recent resident after Tom to move into Jefferton.
He was portrayed by Brian Posehn (who was visually altered to look much shorter in the show).
Background[]
Gibbons a very short man, being comparable to the size of most of Jefferton's children. Gibbon's short height of often comes as shock and ridicule to some residents, though Gibbons never seems to make note of this direct mockery. He has a habit of droning off and forgetting what he was saying ( a recurring catchphrase of his).
In Tom Goes to the Mayor's sitcom satire, Gibbons is the a parody of the quirky, well-meaning but sometimes overly-friendly buddy who get's the hero into trouble. In reality Gibbons is the most selfish and spoiled person in all of Jefferton. He constantly asks for people to get him things that are ridiculously priced and impractical. This often leads to the Mayor (who showed a new found love for the little guy) giving him whatever he wants our of some sort of obsession. Much like most residents in Jefferton, Gibbons pushes unfathomable expectations onto Tom. What's worst, Gibbons loves acting like he's on the moral high ground. In two of his three major episode roles, he points blame onto Tom in order to guilt-trip him and get some sort of bonus out of it. After humiliating Tom at the Jefferton Friendship Expo, Gibbon's now lives with Tom.
At one point, Gibbons was hit by the Mayor's scooter and was brought down to the Mayor's secret laboratory. After being experimented on, Gibbons is seemingly immortal. He's quickly recovered from being thrown down a well, shot in the head, beaten and fed rat poison.
